The legendary Factory Records is back this time as a nightclub!
Manchester’s famous Factory Records’ eighteen-year-old office in Manchester has recently been renovated into a nightclub called; yep, you’ve guessed it, ‘The Factory’. This isn’t just any old refurb nor is it a cheap one. Peter Hook, who first released Factory Records’ first album and Aaron Mellor, former DJ at the Manchester’s renowned nightclub ‘The Hacienda’ (which was also financed by the Label!) have teamed up to create the new club. A little heritage and nostalgia has also been added to the design with the help of Ben Kelly, who planned the original Factory HQ conversion. Refreshingly, ‘The Factory’ is one of the few things that has been saved by the recession. After future plans of the office being demolished and a new hotel setting up camp were abolished due to the credit crunch. Could we finally have another reason to visit Manchester other than to frequent the Warehouse Project? With the combination of this and the rumoured ‘Stadium Point’ (previously researched by our Beth) Does this mean Manchester could become the new clubbing capital of the UK? I say watch that Space!
